Xiaomi (Redmi 3) doesn’t connect to PC via USB

I want to use my old Redmi 3 phone as a camera for my PC. The most stable connection is via USB not by WiFi. I expected to plug into USB, select the right mode on phone and… Yes the journey just began… My PC didn’t see at all Xiaomi. Redmi was charged but nothing more.

What I try? Reinstall system on Xiaomi, different apps which should give access to USB settings mode on Redmi, but nothing works. Then I started looking from the other side – is it something wrong maybe in my Windows installation?

Then I find the suggestion to reinstall the Windows driver. It works!

So, step by step:

  1. First: on the phone, you must enable the developer option. Go to Settings -> About Phone and tap MIUI version 6 times until you see a notification that you are now a developer
  2. After that you need to enable USB debugging – it should be possible after enabling the developer option, then go to settings -> Additional settings -> Developer options -> enable USB debugging.
  3. Connect Xiaomi to your PC via USB cable
  4. On your computer go to C: -> Windows -> INF -> wpdmtp.inf, then right-click on it, select install (remember to have before that your phone plugged in)

That is it 🙂 Have a wonderfull day. 🙂
